ELEKTRORAD MAGAZIN TEST - RUGA PRO TOUR: Sporty power machine

In December, Elektrorad Magazine also tested two of our e-bikes in the categories of City and MTB. And how did our bikes pass the test?

"On gravel, the sporty pedelec reliably stays in its lane and reacts quickly and precisely thanks to its agile handling. The hydraulic disc brakes, with which you also want a 180 mm diameter on the rear wheel, ensure that you grip safely. For tours on dry asphalt, 160 mm is completely sufficient."

Be the first to read the test results of our Ruga Pro Tour model in original German on Elektrorad Magazine or in Hungarian or English on our website.

Gepida Ruga Pro Tour: Sporty power machine

Elektrorad - ruga pro tour

The Gepida Ruga Pro Tour is a SUV e-bike for sporty touring rides with full equipment and a powerful drive. How did the e-bike fare in the test?

Founded in 1993 in a private garage, Gepida was the first bicycle shop in Budapest to offer non-imported models for sale. Almost three decades later, their fleet includes e-bikes from almost all categories.

With the Ruga Pro Tour, the Hungarians are offering a SUV in which the curved top tube, which is flattened towards the cockpit, stands out visually. The short head tube and stem, which round off the sporty first impression together with the narrow Selle Royal saddle and MTB grips, are also noticeable.

The suitability for everyday use is ensured by the full equipment of bright Trelock lighting system, SKS mudguards and aluminum luggage rack with 25 kg load capacity. Neatly integrated into the down tube: the 625 Wh battery - which can optionally be exchanged for a smaller one or an additional one can be added.

Powerful and agile

It is fed by Bosch's Performance Line CX motor, which gives a powerful push from the start. Together with the coarse-tread Schwalbe tires, it makes the Ruga Pro a successful off-road package, which is well thought out with the 100 mm travel of the easy-to-swallow Suntour fork.

On gravel, the sporty pedelec reliably stays in its lane and reacts quickly and precisely thanks to its agile handling. The hydraulic disc brakes, with which you also want a 180 mm diameter on the rear wheel, ensure that you grip safely. For tours on dry asphalt, 160 mm is completely sufficient.

During the test drive through muddy terrain, the distance between the splash guards and the tires on the rear wheel turned out to be far too short. The width (65 mm) has also been chosen to be tight. The Shimano Deore gearshift with twelve gears offers the right gear ratio on steep sections.

Gepida Ruga Pro Tour in the test: conclusion

The Gepida Ruga Pro Tour impresses as a robust SUV with sporty driving characteristics. Top drive and good full equipment provide the tools for long off-road tours.

Positive: powerful engine, smooth running with luggage, value for money

Negative: hardly any space between the tires and the splash guards, visible welds on the frame, noticeable cable routing in the cockpit
